LGBTQ+ Travel News Roundup: Mid-October 2026

It's a busy stretch for LGBTQ+ travel. Pride season is still going in several cities, destinations are making new moves to welcome us, and the festival calendar is full. Here's what caught our attention.
Key West has a new person in charge of promoting it to us
Visit Florida Keys & Key West has appointed Daniel Cuellar as its chief marketing officer, with a focus on promoting Key West as an LGBTQ+-friendly destination, according to The Gay Lane's October news digest. It's a reminder that destinations are increasingly competing for LGBTQ+ travelers on purpose, and with dedicated staff, not just rainbow flags in an ad. Fantasy Fest, the city's famous ten-day costume festival, kicks off this Friday, October 16.
Napa Valley's queer travel scene is growing
Travel + Leisure reports that a new boutique hotel and a growing set of Pride celebrations are reshaping Napa Valley's LGBTQ+ travel scene. If wine country is more your speed than a beach or a nightclub, it's one to watch for a relaxed weekend trip.
Pride weekends this week
Several Pride celebrations are happening around the same time:
Honolulu Pride: October 16 to 18, with an opening party, parade, lei pool party, and drag brunch.
It's Pride Y'all in Jackson, Mississippi: October 16 to 18, with a kickoff gala, comedy, music, and a glow party.
Las Vegas Pride: running October 9 to 17.
Destination ideas from IGLTA
The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association's blog posted several new destination pieces at the start of October, including LGBTQ+ travel in the Galápagos, why LGBTQ+ travelers are choosing Croatia for private yacht charters, a slower side of Portugal beyond Lisbon, and a look at Vienna. If you're planning a 2027 trip, they're a good place to browse.
Coming up soon
Día de Muertos in Mexico City: events run from about October 17 through early November, one of the most beautiful cultural celebrations in the Americas.
Taipei Pride: one of Asia's largest, with events in late October and early November.
The gap we still notice
Looking through this month's news, most of it is still centered on gay men and general Pride events. Stories focused on lesbian, trans, and nonbinary travelers were harder to find. That's part of why we write this roundup the way we do, and why we're building Everyone.travel for the whole community. If you know of a story that deserves a spot here, we'd love to hear it.
